Kareem Hunt will start his Cleveland Browns career on Sunday

When the Cleveland Browns take the field on Sunday, Kareem Hunt take his first reps in the NFL away from the Kansas City Chiefs.
Nearly one year after he was released by the Kansas City Chiefs, running back Kareem Hunt will make his debut away from his former team with the Cleveland Browns when they suit up to host the Buffalo Bills on Sunday.
For Hunt, the wait has been a long one. First the NFL levied an eight-game suspension for his part in an assault and altercation from February, 2018 and further offseason incidents thereafter. Hunt admitted lying to the Chiefs on multiple occasions about his role in the alleged incidents. Until a video was released by TMZ, Hunt was allowed to escape any punishment from the team or league.
Hunt also suffered a hernia injury that required surgery in August. Together it means that Hunt might not be ready to go at full-strength for Cleveland on Sunday unless he’s somehow already in game shape.
That said, he’s certainly been looking forward to this chance to get back on the field. Head coach Freddie Kitchens also noted that Hunt “definitely” has a place in the team’s offensive game plan vs. Buffalo.
Hunt will join Nick Chubb in a dynamic backfield for the Browns who could use a boost of any kind (although no one would say the running game has been their Achilles heel). Hunt led the NFL in rushing yards as a rookie (only the sixth such rookie to do so in NFL history) in 2017 and he added another 1,200 yards from scrimmage in only 11 games in 2018.
Together in only his first two seasons, in 27 total starts, Hunt had 2,984 yards from scrimmage.
