The NFL has finally announced Kareem Hunt’s suspension and the Cleveland Browns running back will sit the first eight games of 2019.

Per a press release provided by the NFL, the league has officially announced the suspension for former Kansas City Chiefs running back Kareem Hunt.

The third-year player will sit the first eight games of the 2019 regular season for a series of altercations and an assault stemming from 2018—a violation of the NFL’s personal conduct policy.

Hunt, who is now a member of the Cleveland Browns organization, is apparently not going to appeal at all and will accept his punishment in full.

"Hunt has advised the league office that he accepts responsibility for his conduct and the discipline that has been imposed.  He has committed to take advantage of available resources to help him grow personally and as a member of the Cleveland community, and to live up to his obligations as an NFL player."

This means the Browns will be able to employ Hunt out of the backfield for the second half of the season. The official schedules are not out yet, so it remains to be seen if the Chiefs and Browns will play in the first or second half of the season.

Hunt led the NFL in rushing during his rookie campaign in Kansas City and was well on his way to a second Pro Bowl appearance in as many seasons when he was placed on the Commissioner’s Exempt list back in early December. A video released by TMZ shed new light on former allegations against Hunt, and it became clear that the running back had been lying to the league and the Chiefs about his role. The result was a forfeited rest of season and an immediate release by the Chiefs.

Former Chiefs general manager John Dorsey, now in charge of the Browns’ front office, signed Hunt to a one-year deal this offseason knowing he would be suspended.
