Chiefs vs. Packers: The 4 players who helped themselves most
By Byron Smith
With roster cuts just around the corner, which players stood out in the Kansas City Chief’s fourth and final preseason game against the Packers.
By Sunday, well over 1,100 players are going to be released across all the NFL. Some will be put on injured reserve, while others will find a practice squad spot, but for most, week 4 of the preseason will be the last minutes of NFL football they ever play. For that reason, players across the league left everything they have on the field Thursday night, trying to secure a spot on a 53 man roster.
Many Kansas City Chiefs players were among those who played their heart out against the Green Bay Packers. For a team with a Super Bowl mindset, the bubble is small in Kansas City and spots available on the roster are few and far between.
Chiefs Kingdom have been keeping up with these 90 players for almost two months now, between training camp and the preseason, and feel invested in the future of these guys. So let’s take a final look at which players stood out at Lambeau Field, and how their performances will effect their positioning for the final 53.
Jeremiah Attaochu
Since being drafted in 2014, Attaochu has played for three separate teams (the L.A. Chargers, New York Jets). Going into his fifth season as a linebacker, the former Georgia Tech player wants to find a new home in Kansas City.
Lyle Graversen of Arrowhead Addict had Attaochu making the team in his 53 man roster projection, but as the “53rd man” which would put him on the bubble going into roster cuts. After his dominant defensive performance on Thursday, Attaochu could easily make the Chiefs roster.
With two sacks and plenty of other pressures throughout the night, Attaochu is an attractive pick for a backup linebacker. It’s also possible that another team with a much weaker linebacking core than Kansas City comes calling. (The Jets comes to mind.)
