The Kansas City Chiefs had their dress rehearsal for the regular season on Saturday and, after three preseason games, the roster is starting to take shape.

The Kansas City Chiefs had their third preseason game of the year on Saturday, a 27-17 loss to the San Francisco 49ers. Despite losing the game, the Chiefs had a much better showing than the previous week against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Ultimately, preseason wins and losses are meaningless but how players are used in the games and how they respond are vital to figuring out who will ultimately make the 53-man roster.

The third preseason game is typically viewed as the dress rehearsal for the regular season. Chiefs fans shouldn’t counting on seeing any major players in this Thursday night’s preseason finale against the Green Bay Packers. That final preseason game has basically evolved into a showcase for young players to try and catch the eye of other teams.

So with the truly meaningful preseason snaps now behind us it is time to make an official prediction on just who will make the active roster. Before I get to my positional breakdown, I want to put on the record that I don’t believe that general manager Brett Veach is done tinkering with the roster. As you’ll see in my projections there are a couple of roster spots I expect to be filled by players not currently on the roster. That could be by signing someone that is released by another team or could be that the Chiefs will make a trade right before roster cuts go down. These projections don’t call for any current players being traded away but it certainly wouldn’t shock me if it happened.

I will also point out that these projections are what I believe the Chiefs will do, not necessarily what I would do if I was calling the shots.

So without further ado, here are my official roster projections for the 2019 Kansas City Chiefs.
