Kansas City area sports radio host Kevin Keitzman lost his job at 810 WHB after making comments about Andy Reid‘s family.
Kansas City sports radio station 810 WHB recently made the announcement that longtime host Kevin Keitzman and Union Broadcasting, the organization which owns the station, have agreed to mutually part ways—another way of saying Keitzman lost his job after making comments about Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid and his family.
Keitzman, who was no stranger to questionable statements, played his part well as a modern radio host. Talking heads will, by nature, say things that offend at times as they try to fill multiple hours every day with interesting topics. That’s a difficult task for 52 weeks per year in an industry where attention is the currency.

This time around, however, Keitzman apparently said too much. In his efforts to discuss the Kansas City Chiefs’ history with troubled players (and their perceived inability to properly rehabilitate them), Keitzman had apparently had enough. After the release of Kareem Hunt last season and the offseason drama around Tyreek Hill, Keitzman took head coach Andy Reid to task and questioned his leadership. He also mentioned Reid’s family in the process.
If you want the full context and transcript, you can check it out here, but the backlash was instant and significant. It wasn’t long before national pundits and friends and former players of Reid were calling for Keitzman’s resignation. Union Broadcasting took a full day before they decided to suspend Keitzman and figure out how to curtail the damage done.
Ultimately the station and the host decided to part ways. It’s an interesting decision given that Keitzman is part owner of the station as well. The statement made by Keitzman:
"“It’s been my honor and privilege to host Between the Lines for the past 22 years and I’m proud of being a founding partner of this great local company that is so committed to our community,“ Kietzman said."
The station has made no further announcements regarding what’s next for Keitzman or how they will fill the role, both in the interim and for the long-term.
