The Kansas City Chiefs and the rest of the NFL have a new tight end to check out as they prepare for the 2019 NFL Supplemental Draft.

A third potential pro prospect has reportedly entered the 2019 NFL Supplemental Draft with word that former University of Texas commit Devonaire Clarington, a tight end, will be eligible for the draft.

Two players have already stated their eligibility for the draft in West Virginia wide receiver Marcus Simms and Syracuse linebacker Shyheim Cullen. Both of those players fit positions of need for the Chiefs and the same can be said of Clarington, who took a circuitous route through the junior college ranks to reach this point.

Clarington had academic concerns that kept him from ever suiting up for the Longhorns or playing in the Big 12. Instead he went to Blinn Junior College in Texas before heading to Minnesota to play even more football at Northland Community College.

Howard Balzer reports that Clarington is set to work out for interested reps and scouts on July 8 in his home of Miami, Florida. He had 11 receiving touchdowns last year for Northland.

As for the Chiefs, Clarington has interesting size (6’7, 230 lbs.) if his profile on Northland’s roster tells the truth. The Chiefs continue to churn through potential players for the roles behind All-Pro Travis Kelce after losing Demetrius Harris to the Cleveland Browns in free agency. Blake Bell is the most experienced of the lot, but the Chiefs are also kicking the tires on converted wideout Jody Fortson, David Wells, Deon Yelder and others.

The Chiefs recently released John Phillips and signed Nick Keizer away from the Baltimore Ravens in a recent series of moves to bring in new competition at the position.
