Former Baltimore Ravens tight end Nick Keizer has reportedly signed with the Kansas City Chiefs, per NFL reporter Aaron Wilson.

The Kansas City Chiefs continue to add new competition to the tight end spot with the reported addition of former Baltimore Ravens player Nick Keizer, per NFL reporter Aaron Wilson.

Keizer is the latest addition to the tight end spot and fills the role recently vacated by John Phillips, a veteran blocking tight end who was let go by the Chiefs only eight days after they originally signed him in the first place. Phillips was brought in to compete for a spot behind Travis Kelce, and the competition remains wide open, so Keizer has a real chance.

Keizer comes to the Chiefs after spending all of the last year with the Baltimore Ravens. As a former player at Grand Valley State, Keizer signed with the Ravens as an undrafted free agent and spent the entire year on the team’s practice squad. After the conclusion of the season, Keizer signed a reserve/futures contract to remain with Baltimore as a special teams player and tight end, but he was eventually released.

For the Chiefs, Keizer joins a mix that lacks a lot of the spotlight, with several unknown quantities on the roster like Deon Yelder, David Wells, Jody Fortson, John Lovett and now Keizer. The most well-known option is Blake Bell, who is an NFL veteran, but even Bell has never put up stats nearly as lucrative as Demetrius Harris—which sounds a bit odd to say.

At this point, Bell is the likely favorite after Kelce with the rest competing for a third spot and any potential practice squad roles.
