Pros for a Return: This is the most obvious of any ex-player who could potentially return, and that’s simply due to the fact that rumors have already circulated that the Chiefs were interested in bringing Bailey back into the fold. Unfortunately for K.C., Bailey also reportedly had suitors in Carolina and New England.

The Chiefs have reinvented the defensive line for Steve Spagnuolo, having imported Emmanuel Ogbah and Alex Okafor. The Chiefs are also slotting in last year’s second round pick, Breeland Speaks, into a better positional fit with a four-man front. Depending on how many more linemen the Chiefs pick up in the draft, Bailey could find himself returning to the fold once again after setting a career best for sacks in a season with 6 in 2018.

Cons for a Return: Bailey isn’t exactly bringing any real experience in Spags’ system, so no one can say his familiarity with the Chiefs defense helps at all. The Chiefs overall also seem to be focusing on youth, and this draft is ripe with defensive line prospects. With four picks in the top 100 overall, it’s possible the Chiefs come home with one or more guys to develop alongside other young hopefuls who could use the reps.
