Pros for a Return: The Chiefs haven’t exactly made a lot of moves at DAT’s position in order to disqualify him, like they did at RB with Carlos Hyde. Instead, Kelvin Benjamin and Thomas remain free agents, Tyreek Hill has been caught up in some unexpected drama, and Sammy Watkins is always going to be on a “hopefully healthy” list as long as he’s around.

All of this means that the Chiefs have room for one or two even two more wide receiver additions who could earn a decent amount of snaps. Younger players like Marcus Kemp, Gehrig Dieter and Demarcus Robinson would all love to help fill the void, but Thomas could find himself a member of the Chiefs roster again if he can show he’s healthy.

Dave Toub has praised Thomas again and again for his toughness and excellent special teams play, and his presence would give a young offense another veteran voice whose positional versatility would help if the Chiefs chose to employ it.

Cons for a Return: This likely all comes down to health. How well has DAT healed up from a fractured leg suffered last October? And how well has he healed up from previous leg injuries? If he can bounce back after a long offseason of rehabilitation, it could be good news for both sides, but the Chiefs might be ready to move on from injury concerns or questions with a younger draft asset if the value is there on draft weekend.
