Defensive end Allen Bailey has a few suitors for his services after putting up career numbers in sacks, including the Chiefs, Patriots and Panthers.

The Kansas City Chiefs are reportedly interested in bringing back one of their own in defensive end Allen Bailey. The problem is that the free agent has some other suitors interested in his services as well.

Coming off of a year in which he set a career high in sacks with six, Bailey picked the right time to show he’s still got some pass rushing prowess in the tank. He also tied his career high in forced fumbles with 2. He put up a total of 38 tackles, 5 of which went for a loss, 10 quarterback hits, and 4 fumble recoveries. In short, Bailey had a strong nose for the ball in 2018.

Bailey has only been with the Chiefs for his entire professional career, which could come into play from either angle in free agency. On one hand, Bailey might want to see what it’s like on the other side, and the reported interest from the New England Patriots and Carolina Panthers give him two teams to consider as a blank slate. The Pats in particular offer a great chance for Super Bowl glory.

That said, the Chiefs are as competitive as they have ever been, and Bailey has been with this franchise for eight straight seasons—since being picked in the third round by Scott Pioli back in the 2011 NFL Draft. The chance to potentially end his career with the same team that he started, especially if it culminates in a Super Bowl appearance or win, would most certainly be a very meaningful decision.

Bailey, who is now 30, played in a career high 16 games last season and started 13 of them. If he sticks around, it will be interesting to see how much playing time he’s promised versus Breeland Speaks and other edge hopefuls as the team transitions to Steve Spagnuolo as defensive coordinator.
