According to reports, the Jacksonville Jaguars are set to sign former Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Chris Conley to a contract.

The Jacksonville Jaguars have added another offensive weapon to the offense with the signing of free agent wide receiver Chris Conley, per Mike Garafolo.

Conley hit free agency for the first time in his career after playing out the last four seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs. K.C. picked Conley out of Georgia as their third-round selection from the 2015 NFL Draft.

Conley was a solid reliable target for the Chiefs over the last few years but never made the leap like the front office might have pictured. Instead, he was leaped on the depth chart by former fifth round pick Tyreek Hill and the front office felt it necessary to dip into free agency to grab another talent like Sammy Watkins.

At the NFL Combine, however, Conley showed the kind of athletic display that makes you believe he’s capable of bigger things. He’s also a very intelligent player who is also very interesting off the field.

For the Jaguars, Conley brings a reliable target who has grown with the NFL’s most potent offense. Last year, Conley had 32 catches for 334 yards and 5 touchdowns. He also brings the question to be answered: did he suffer in K.C. from too many cooks in the kitchen? With Kareem Hunt, Travis Kelce, Tyreek Hill and others, Conley was never going to be featured. Was that his problem or the byproduct of a talented roster?

The Jaguars will have the chance to find out as they pair Conley with Nick Foles, their new starting quarterback. He will form a new receiver core with Dede Westbrook, Marquis Lee who returns from surgery, Keelan Cole, and last year’s second round pick DJ Chark.
