With Week 2 of the AAF behind us lets check in to see how some former Chiefs players fared in their second game of the young league

The Kansas City Chiefs are represented well in the Alliance of American Football League. There are a couple of former players that were able to build on their superb first week. Former Chiefs corner Keith Reaser had a pick six in his game against the San Antonio Commanders which gave the Orlando Apollos the lead in the fourth quarter. Reaser was once again named to the Pro Football Focus Team of the Week.

This week Reaser graded out as the best defensive player in the AAF, and after watching the game, I doubt that is going to change anytime soon. With the weaknesses that the Chiefs currently have at the cornerback position, I don’t think it’s a stretch to believe Brett Veach might be calling Reaser again soon.

Not every Chiefs player is excelling as well as Reaser has, however. Let’s check in on a few Kansas City players who have had a couple of up-and-down performances so far this season.

Seantavius Jones, WR, Atalanta Legends

Seantavius Jones was a fan favorite during his time with the Chiefs, so when some people saw that he had signed with the Atlanta Legends, many had fans assumed he would make a significant impact. So far, that has not been the case.

The Legends are a mess overall right now with most of their points coming off the leg of former Los Angeles Chargers kicker Younghoe Koo. Jones is second on the team in receiving yards with 66 on only six targets. The only touchdown the team has scored this season has gone to teammate Malachi Jones.

Atlanta has had a rough start mostly due to their sudden turnover at the head coach and offensive coordinator positions. If they don’t right the ship soon though, they will be out of the playoff race before the season really gets started.

Rashad Ross, WR, Arizona Hotshots

The Arizona Hotshots offense struggled throughout most of the game against the Memphis Express in Week 2. The four touchdown performance that we saw from John Wolford in Week 1 seemed to disappear during the first half of the game entirely.

Rashad Ross helped turn the game around for the Hotshots when he caught a short pass and turned it into a touchdown, the first points the Hotshots scored. Ross’s only touchdown of the night was also the teams first down conversion at that point in the game. He finished with 4 catches for 67 yards and 1 touchdown.

Ross had multiple big plays throughout the game as he continued to be one of the best wide receivers in the early part of the season.

Gavin Escobar, TE, San Diego Fleet

Kansas City has been searching for another tight end to back up Travis Kelce since he first became a star. One of the tight ends that the Chiefs recently experimented with was Gavin Escobar, who had spent his entire career with the Dallas Cowboys after being chosen by them in the second round of the 2013 draft.

Escobar’s time in Kansas City was short, but many believed at the time that he had made a decent case to make the roster. We all know how that turned out now, and it seems to be working out for Escobar who currently has 78 receiving yards for the San Diego Fleet. He has yet to catch a touchdown this season but has been heavily featured through both games.

If Escobar continues to play at his current level, there is no doubt that he will be back at an NFL training Camp this fall.
