2019 Pro Bowl: Patrick Mahomes among 5 Chiefs in NFL’s all-star exhibition
By Matt Conner
Travis Kelce is sitting out the NFL’s version of an all-star game, but five members of the Kansas City Chiefs roster will be playing in the Pro Bowl.
The 2019 Pro Bowl kicks off on Sunday, and fans of the Kansas City Chiefs will have several familiar faces to watch, including the starting quarterback for the AFC.
Patrick Mahomes should be under center when the game begins as he splits time with Andrew Luck and Deshaun Watson manning the quarterback position for the AFC. They’ll go up against Russell Wilson, Mitchell Trubisky and Dak Prescott on the NFC’s side of things.

Overall, the Chiefs should have six players on the AFC’s roster, but starting tight end Travis Kelce will be sitting this year out. Still, that leaves left tackle Eric Fisher, wide receiver Tyreek Hill, pass rusher Dee Ford, and fullback Anthony Sherman as Chiefs’ participants in the all-star exhibition.
For Fisher, Ford, Sherman and Mahomes, it will be the first appearance in the Pro Bowl and a weekend to remember as they rub shoulders with the NFL’s best. For Hill, it is his third Pro Bowl in as many NFL seasons. Kelce has made four straight Pro Bowl rosters going back to the 2015 season.
Despite the number of players already included, the Chiefs were not without their significant snubs for the Pro Bowl. Right tackle Mitchell Schwartz was honored by Pro Football Focus as their offensive lineman of the year (at any position) and he was also named All-Pro (again) yet he was completely shut out of the Pro Bowl.
Meanwhile, Defensive lineman Chris Jones finished third in the entire NFL in sacks with 15.5, just behind Aaron Donald of the L.A. Rams and J.J. Watt of the Houston Texans and was left without any Pro Bowl honors as well.
The Pro Bowl begins at 2:00 p.m. C.T. on Sunday, January 27, 2019 at Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Florida.
