Lamar Jackson injury update: Ravens quarterback says ankle is ‘good’
By Matt Conner
The Baltimore Ravens are expected to have Lamar Jackson back as a starting option against the Buccaneers despite his ankle injury in Week 14.
Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson says his ankle injury has been termed “good” after being looked at by team staff and trainers after a Week 14 road loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.
The Chiefs, who won 27-24 in overtime, took over defensively in the last few minutes of the game, which included a tough sack on Jackson that forced him out of the game. Trainers immediately took to Jackson, and the Ravens were forced to bring in Robert Griffin III to finish the game’s final plays as the Ravens attempted to tie or even win after a Harrison Butker field goal put the Chiefs up by three.

After the game, Jackson looked like he was okay, and the official word is the same. Adam Schefter also notes that x-rays taken after the game were negative. That means the Ravens have some serious quarterback decisions ahead as they face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 15.
Veteran quarterback Joe Flacco has been medically cleared to play for the team and has been the team’s starting quarterback since 2008, with a career record of 96-67 in 163 career games. Jackson, however, is clearly the future, a first-round investment who already has four games now under his belt. The Ravens have also looked sharp with Jackson at the helm, and just played the AFC’s best team down to the wire at Arrowhead Stadium.
Jackson completed 13 of 24 passes against the Chiefs defense for 147 passing yards and 2 touchdowns. He also avoided throwing any interceptions. Jackson also rushed for 71 yards on the day, showing he can be the same two-way threat at the pro level that he was in college where he was awarded the Heisman Trophy in 2016.
