Chiefs vs. Ravens: Spencer Ware leaves with shoulder injury
By Matt Conner
The Kansas City Chiefs lost running back Spencer Ware in the second quarter to an injury he caught a long pass against the Ravens.
Spencer Ware is still settling into his role as featured running back for the Kansas City Chiefs, but unfortunately, he was forced to leave the field in Week 14 against the Baltimore Ravens after suffering a shoulder injury.
Ware caught a 31-yard pass from Patrick Mahomes up the sideline as the game was close to halftime, but a hit from Eric Weddle forced him to hit the ground hard. Ware was slow to get up and needed coaches and trainers to get him back up. From there, he was taken to the locker room for a closer look from Chiefs trainers and staff.

Ware had 77 total yards from scrimmage in the first half against the Ravens, including 8 rushes for 32 yards and 3 catches for 45 receiving yards. Ware recently took over the starter’s reps when the Chiefs decided to release Pro Bowl running back Kareem Hunt. TMZ Sports obtained and released a video of Hunt assaulting a woman back in February and the Chiefs decided to release their star when it came out that he’d lied to them on multiple occasions about what really happened.
Ware has held this role before in 2016 before Hunt was drafted and after Jamaal Charles‘s days as a starter were finished. During that season, Ware had 1,368 yards from scrimmage but struggled with stamina and minor injuries as the season wore on.
The Chiefs will now turn to two offseason imports to anchor their running game: Damien Williams and Darrel Williams. The former was signed as a free agent from the Miami Dolphins in the spring while the latter was an impressive rookie free agent out of Louisiana State who surprised fans by making the team’s final roster.
