Kansas City Chiefs starting left guard Cameron Erving headed to the locker room in the second quarter against the Baltimore Ravens.
The Kansas City Chiefs will have their offensive line tested by yet another injury with word that Cameron Erving hurt his knee in the second quarter against the Baltimore Ravens.
The Chiefs lost their starting left guard to the injury tent to work with trainers and he was then escorted to the locker room with a limp. It’s questionable whether or not he will return as of press time.
Jeff Allen replaced Erving in the starting line-up and the Chiefs continued their march to the end zone on a drive that culminated in Travis Kelce‘s 10th touchdown catch of the season. Fortunately, Allen is a proven product, a versatile player who has held down this spot before for the Chiefs in years past before coming back to the team from the Houston Texans earlier this season.
The Chiefs recently welcomed back starting center Mitch Morse from several games away due to a concussion, while starting right guard Laurent Duvernay-Tardif has missed every game since Week 5 since suffering a broken leg. Andy Reid has intimated that he might come off of injured reserve before the end of the season, but nothing has been confirmed yet. Andrew Wylie has started in his place.
The Chiefs have also lost Jordan Devey, a primary backup along the interior, for the entire season due to injury. Behind Allen, the Chiefs have Austin Reiter who can step in at center. Jimmy Murray and Kahlil McKenzie are both on the list of inactives for the Chiefs, unfortunately, should further depth be tested.
