The Kansas City Chiefs took a trip to Oakland and came away with a much closer road win than expected, while the Denver Broncos took a trip to Cincinnati and left with a fairly easy victory against the Bengals. The Los Angeles Chargers visited the Pittsburgh Steelers and squeaked out with a win on a go-ahead field goal as time expired.

Despite the turbulence of releasing running back Kareem Hunt, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes looked like his normal self as he torched the Raiders defense, completing 23 of 38 passes for 295 yards and 4 touchdowns. He also rushed kept the ball 9 times for 52 yards, the team’s leading rusher of the day. Tight end Travis Kelce was on the receiving end of the majority of Mahomes’ passes and had an amazing day, catching 12 of them for 168 yards and 2 touchdowns.

On the ground, running back Spencer Ware took on the majority of the duty. He rushed 14 times for only 47 yards but did find the end zone once on a direct snap from the 1-yard line. Fellow running back Damien Williams was more efficient with his carries, getting the ball 5 times and rushing for 38 yards. Wide receiver Tyreek Hill also got the ball on the ground, rushing twice for 37 yards. Ultimately, the Chiefs picked up yet another division win and beat the Raiders 40-33.

Raiders quarterback Derek Carr had a nice day, completing 29/38 passes for 285 yards and 3 touchdowns. His performance, however, was not enough for the Raiders as they hosted the high powered Chiefs offense. Running back Doug Martin carried the ball 18 times for 61 yards, 1 touchdown, and lost one fumble. Fellow running back Jalen Richard had a better game, carrying the ball 6 times for 95 yards and also lost one fumble. The Raiders somehow managed to put up 33 points against the Chiefs, but the game was ultimately an easy win for the Chiefs, who came out on top 40-33.

The Broncos are continuing to surge, as they picked up a third straight win. Quarterback Case Keenum only completed 12 passes for 151 yards and 1 touchdown, but running back Phillip Lindsay picked up the slack and exploded for 157 yards and 2 touchdowns on 19 carries. Behind Lindsay’s strong performance, the Broncos left Cincinnati and the Bengals in the dust, winning 24-10.

The Chargers snuck away with a win over the Steelers on Sunday night. Chargers quarterback threw 36 passes, completing 26 of them for 299 yards and 2 touchdowns. Without star running back Melvin Gordon out to an MCL sprain, Austin Ekeler and Justin Jackson took over the run game for the Chargers. Ekeler carried the ball 13 times for a mere 21 yards, while Jackson carried the ball 8 times for 63 yards and 1 touchdown. The Chargers scored on a controversial play which made ultimately factored into the end result of the game, which saw Chargers kicker Michael Badgley hitting a game-winning field goal as time expired.
