1. The Chiefs offense is almost unstoppable.

We are living in an era of unmatched offensive production in the NFL. All over the league we are seeing teams put up more and more offense than in previous eras of the game. Even with the league wide offensive explosion, the Chiefs offense this season stands out. Through seven games the Chiefs are averaging over 37 points per game.

We could talk all day about what is so good about the offense. It starts with head coach Andy Reid and his creative offensive design that utilizes both his traditional West Coast Offense with elements of the college spread game and has defensive coordinators scratching their heads.

The execution of Reid’s offense is all about the play of the NFL’s newest superstar, quarterback Patrick Mahomes. It’s hard to even put into words just how good Patrick Mahomes has been through seven games this season. Jaw-dropping? Legendary? Record-breaking?

Choose your superlative, they all apply. Mahomes has thrown for 2,223 yards (317.6 per game) and almost 8.9 yards per attempt while completing 64.9% of his passes with 22 touchdowns and five interceptions. He’s on pace to throw for over 5,000 yards with 50 touchdowns.

Think about that. I promise you that other teams in the NFL are.

If Reid’s play design and Mahomes emergence as the NFL’s newest superstar aren’t enough to strike fear in the heart of opposing teams the supporting cast of Tyreek Hill, Travis Kelce, and Kareem Hunt, all of which are at or near the top of their position group, should do the trick.

This offense is special. They just need the defense to hold their own. Which brings us to reason number two.
