Sam Ficken, L.A. Rams

Kicker aficionados will remember Sam Ficken from his multi-week tryout with the Chiefs just last summer spelling Cairo Santos when he first injured his groin in training camp. Ficken was just fine for the Chiefs, but Brett Veach had other (read: better) long-term plans at the position when given a chance to pick his own guy in Harrison Butker. It was nice, however, to see Ficken picked up but unfortunately the Rams have gone another direction.

Gavin Escobar, Miami Dolphins

Gavin Escobar was a fan favorite to make the Kansas City Chiefs roster last year behind Travis Kelce and Demetrius Harris. However he was beaten out by Ross Travis, and Escobar has since went on to earn tryouts and chances around the NFL without ever finding his path. He’ll never live up to the second round investment placed on him by the Dallas Cowboys, but we wish him the best as he’s once again a free agent.

Andrew Tiller, New Orleans Saints

Andrew Tiller was a preseason candidate to back-up a couple spots on the Chiefs offensive line a year ago but failed to make the final cut. This year he caught on with the Saints in the same way, but has once again suffered the same fate. He’s also played for the Chargers, Packers and Niners.

Laurence Gibson, Tennessee Titans

Laurence Gibson spent the entire 2015 season on the Kansas City Chiefs practice squad as a project tackle out of Virginia Tech. His 6’6, 315 lb. size and obvious strength have given him multiple chances since being taken by the Dallas Cowboys in the seventh round in that same year he spent with the Chiefs—with stops including the Falcons, Bears, Browns, Texans, and Giants. Now it seems he’s added the Titans to that long list of former teams.
