Calvin Pryor – Safety – 26

This name with probably get the most negative reaction. Calvin Pryor was a top-tier hard-hitting safety coming out of Louisville. Pryor was drafted by the Jets in 2014 and then traded to he Browns in 2016 where he was cut about as quick as he was signed for getting into a physical altercation with another teammate.Next was the Jaguars in 2017, where he played 2 games before being released.

This for sure could be a gamble, but he would be cheap. Pryor could be Brett Veach’s own Ron Parker if you will. A guy who has jumped around and didn’t have many people believing in him. If Al Harris and Emmitt Thomas could bring his career back to life, he could be a huge addition to our secondary.

Ron Parker – Safety – 31

Ron Parker? Ron Parker. He got released from the Atlanta Falcons and with our need at safety, how does it not make sense? You don’t have to like him, but he knows the system, and he was a key piece to our secondary for several years. He would allow Armani Watts and Eric Murray to continue to grow without relying on them from Week 1. Also if Eric Berry can’t go for some reason, Parker would be a nice veteran presence to have back there with Watts.

TJ Green – Safety – 23

This is interesting all around. Green was drafted in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft and now he has been waived. The former Clemson star would not be a starter out the gate I do not believe. He was shuffled a little back and forth from cornerback to safety and never found his niche. If he was signed, he would likely take the spot of Leon McQuay as a versatile and developmental guy. Veach likes to go after young high draft picks who didn’t quite work out with their previous team.

So, to conclude I 100% believe Chiefs make a move and bring 1 or 2 guys in. I do not think they go into week 1 comfortable with the current roster situation across the board. Below is some honorable mentions that could either start or provide depth at their position. All would likely be at very least an upgrade over the low man on the totem pole at their respective positions.

Honorable mention:

  • TJ Ward – Safety – 31
  • Eric Reid – Safety – 26
  • Mike Mitchell – Safety  31
  • Jarius Byrd – Safety – 31
  • Tyvon Branch – Safety – 31
  • Alterraun Verner – Cornerback – 29
  • Junior Galette – Outside Linebacker – 30
  • Kevin Dodd – Outside Linebacker – 26
  • Jared Crick – Defensive End – 29
  • Luke  Joeckel – Guard – 26
  • Zane Beadles – Guard  – 31
