The latest news on Bashaud Breeland puts him in Miami for a visit with the Dolphins on Sunday as he continues his free agent tour.

Another day, another free agent visit for cornerback Bashaud Breeland. The latest, per Josina Anderson who is clearly the best source on all things Breeland, brings him south to visit the Miami Dolphins, a brand new team entering the arena. At this point, Breeland will either visit every team in the NFL or at least get them all to make a declaration of their interest or not.

For the uninformed, Breeland would not even be a free agent at this point if it were not for an infection that set in after he cut his foot on vacation in the Dominican Republic. Breeland was, like many NFL players, enjoying his offseason while his agent arrived at a nice deal for him to sign with the Carolina Panthers—specifically a 3-year, $24 million deal. Unfortunately when it came time for his physical, the infection was present and the failed physical nullified the deal. Rather than wait, the Panthers moved on to Ross Cockrell and that was that.

From that point, Breeland was forced to wait for the cut and infection to heal. Judging by his free agent visits, it’s hard to tell what is true at this point. Is he taking all of these visits because he’s now healthy and ready to show his skills for teams? Is he lacking a new deal from any of these new teams because he’s not yet healthy? In short, is this a real free agent tour or is Breeland just doing his homework?

If you’re also unaware of how many teams we mean, it’s a laundry list for sure. The spate of recent visits began with the Oakland Raiders and continued with an overnight stay with the Kansas City Chiefs. From there, he emerged without a deal and hit the Indianapolis Colts, Cleveland Browns, Baltimore Ravens and New England Patriots with supposed interest from the New York Jets thrown in for good measure. The Dolphins are now the eighth team to get involved.

The Dolphins have a nice young core in the secondary with Cordrea Tankersley, Xavien Howard and this year’s rookie Minkah Fitzpatrick as their top cornerback trio.  How Breeland would mesh in that group is tough to tell, but he would likely spell Tankersley on the outside.

As for Breeland’s decision it’s hard to tell exactly when he will make a call or even what deals have been officially extended at this point. If he’s healthy, there’s little reason for him not to be in training camp, which means it’s likely that teams are waiting for a clean bill of health.
