Baltimore Ravens

Meet the “aggressive” team here.

The Baltimore Ravens were a late addition to Breeland’s visit schedule, coming in late when it was clear that the cornerback was going to take his time. The Ravens not only were able to convince Breeland to add them to his already planned-out schedule but rumors on social media termed their advances on Breeland as “aggressive.”

Any team coming on strong late can usually finish the job, but here’s the thing about the Ravens: they’re loaded at cornerback. I mean, sure every team could use more defensive backs in an agreeable way that acknowledges the rigors of the NFL season, but the Ravens have more than most at the position. Brandon Carr is still a solid starter outside. Jimmy Smith is a longtime starter outside as well. Marlon Humphrey was last year’s first round pick out of Alabama, and this year they grabbed Anthony Averett in the fourth from the same school. Tavon Young is also a promising young corner who needs playing time.

So the question for the Ravens is really this: do you know something about your own corners that the rest of us do not? Is Smith showing signs of age? Is Humphrey somehow an early bust? Is something wrong with Carr?

The money is there to make a deal if the Ravens really, really wanted, but for them to not utilize that cap space on shoring up the offensive line, as one example, is really baffling.
