Anthony Hitchens

I can give you 45 million reasons why you should expect Anthony Hitchens to make a Pro Bowl at some point.

So far, Hitchens hasn’t even been able to carve out a full-time starting role during his four-year career with the Dallas Cowboys, but in a reserve role during which he’s even started a full season’s worth of games due to injuries to others, Hitchens has shown good instincts and athleticism that has the Chiefs front office excited.

Hitchens signed a five-year deal with $25 million guaranteed because the Chiefs believe the best football from Anthony Hitchens is yet to come. That means that anyone sneering at his past isn’t viewing him through the same lenses. Instead general manager Brett Veach has made it quite clear that he envisions Hitchens taking over where Derrick Johnson left off, and that he’s a well-rounded linebacker who was never quite given the best chance to succeed.

If Veach’s vision is true, that sounds like a potential Pro Bowl player in the middle. He’s certainly going to receive every shot at putting up the sort of stats it would take to get there.
