The 9 most overlooked Kansas City Chiefs players

Leon McQuay, defensive back
The potential of the 2017 Chiefs draft class is still largely unknown one year later. Yes, Kareem Hunt won the rushing title, and we’ll soon know about Patrick Mahomes, but from Tanoh Kpassagnon to Leon McQuay III, many of the class still haven’t had a legitimate shot to show what they can do.
McQuay entered the NFL as a one-year starter but four-year performer out of USC who was known for his athleticism, versatility and ability to make plays on the ball. Chiefs scout Trey Koziol noted his intelligence and athleticism in particular and said the team was primarily looking at him as a nickel corner.
McQuay made his way to the active roster in December after spending time on the practice squad and ended up starting in the season’s final game against the Denver Broncos as Andy Reid rested his starters. McQuay had 4 tackles and 1 pass defended and it will be interesting to see how much more work he can get. The competition is wide open for a guy like McQuay to take whatever he wants.
