Both Tyreek Hill and Kareem Hunt were named to the NFL’s Top 100 Players of 2018 as the countdown gets closer to the top.
Two members of the Kansas City Chiefs surfaced as the NFL’s Top 100 Players of 2018 countdown got inside the top 40 overall players for the coming season. Running back Kareem Hunt and wide receiver Tyreek Hill were both mentioned in this week’s installment at No. 33 and 40 overall, respectively.
The appearance of both players at such a high level shouldn’t surprise anyone after seeing not only the seasons that they enjoyed in 2017 but knowing the ceiling that’s still yet to be reached.

For Hunt, last year was a rookie year for the ages. Not only did he begin by setting an NFL record for most yards from scrimmage in a player’s debut (246 overall) against the New England Patriots (on the road, at that), but he continued to dominate for the entire season and ended up crowned as the league’s leading rusher with 1,327 yards.
This year, Hunt has explained his workouts have focused on the passing game where he intends to be an even stronger threat in 2018. He already had 55 catches last year for 455 receiving yards and 3 touchdowns, and it will be interesting to see how much Patrick Mahomes relies upon Hunt as a pass catching option out of the backfield compared to Alex Smith last season. Hunt was targeted 63 times in 2017.
Hill is the fastest player in the NFL and the Chiefs cannot do enough to get him the ball. Hill made the Pro Bowl for the second consecutive season. Last year he had 75 catches for 1,183 receiving yards and 7 touchdowns and he also returned another punt for a touchdown in 2017 after three special teams returns for touchdowns during his rookie campaign in ’16.
Moving forward, Hill was adjusting to life as a full-time receiver in 2017 and his experience in Andy Reid’s system should pay serious dividends this coming year. While he has to develop trust, timing and chemistry with Mahomes, Hill will be that much more instinctive on his route running and overall execution.
