DeShawn Shead, CB

Former undrafted free agent DeShawn Shead entered the NFL back in 2012. He signed with the Seattle Seahawks and did not play much his first two years in the league. Starting in 2014 Shead began to become a critical rotational piece for the Seahawks and the Legion of Boom. He played in all 16 games that year and helped them win Super Bowl 48 in dominating fashion, 43-8.

Shead did not take over a full time starting role until 2016 where he began in 15 games (missing one game to rest before the playoffs that season). In the divisional round of the playoffs, Shead tore his ACL, an unfortunate turn for a player having a great season. He finished the year with 81 tackles, 14 passes defended one interception and one forced fumble.

Shead was placed on the Physically Unable to Perform list until December this past season. He was able to participate in two games at the end of the season where he recorded two tackles. The Seahawks are reportedly still interested in re-signing the 28-year-old corner but are allowing him to test the free agent waters to figure out where his value is. The Chiefs need all the cornerback help they can get; it is not very often you can find a player at a premium position with Super Bowl experience on the cheap in free agency.
