Former Kansas City Chiefs positional coach Nick Sirianni has taken the offensive coordinator position for the Indianapolis Colts.

Nick Sirianni, the former Los Angeles Chargers wide receivers coach, will be taking his first job outside of the AFC West since coming to the NFL in 2018. After the Indianapolis Colts hired new head coach Frank Reich on Sunday, the Colts asked permission to interview Sirianni as their offensive coordinator. The Colts have decided that Sirianni is their guy as Field Yates confirmed that he would be the 2018 offensive coordinator.

Working hard to move up the coaching ladder in a short period of time after only five years coaching in college, he was hired by the Kansas City Chiefs in 2009 as an offensive assistant. He spent his time in Kansas City moving back and forth between assistant quarterbacks coach and working with the wide receivers.

Sirianni was a name Chiefs fans would remember from the Todd Haley and Romeo Crennel years. He moved on to the San Diego Chargers in 2013 after head coach Andy Reid took over in Kansas City. He took over the quarterbacks coach for the Chargers in 2014 and then finished as a wide receiver coach these last two seasons.

Now Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Tyrell Williams says that much of his success in 2016 and 2017 was due to Sirianni. With wide receiver Keenan Allen going down week 1 of the 2016 season, Williams had to step up and fill that role. Williams finished the 2016 season with 1,059 yards and 7 touchdowns.

The new offensive coordinator will be working under new Colts head coach Frank Reich. He is the second former Chiefs staff member to join the Colts, the other being current general manager Chris Ballard.
