Chiefs vs. Jets: Matt Forte limited in practice
By Matt Conner
Matt Forte has been limited in practice this week for the New York Jets as they prepare to host the visiting Kansas City Chiefs.
Last week was Matt Forte’s first game back after missing a few games. Now the veteran running back is once again dealing with limitations in practice for the New York Jets as they prepare for Week 13 when they host the Kansas City Chiefs.
Forte suffered a knee injury during Week 9 against the Buffalo Bills and didn’t play until last week against the Carolina Panthers. Even then he was limited to 10 carries and 26 rushing yards. It might be hard for Forte to even really establish himself as a feature back again given the rotation he’s in with Bilal Powell and Elijah McGuire, the team’s rookie addition from this year’s draft.

Forte has enjoyed a stellar career in the NFL as a dangerous two-way back who is just as adept catching passes out of the backfield as he is creating yards with his excellent lower body strength, elusiveness and balance. This year, unfortunately, shows signs that the end is near as he’s on pace for a career-low in total yards after eclipsing at least 1,000 yards from scrimmage every other year of his 10-year career.
Forte has 9,682 rushing yards in his NFL career and another 4,601 receiving yards and a total of 74 touchdowns on the ground and in the air.
On the year, Forte has 67 carries for 267 rushing yards and another 29 catches for 222 receiving yards so far this year. In three career games against the Chiefs, Forte has 38 carries for 148 rushing yards and 0 total touchdowns.
