The Kansas City Chiefs are becoming the bettors’ favorite for Week 6 as the line continues to favor the home team against the Steelers.

What began as a simple 3-line opening favoring the home team has turned into a trend that favors the Kansas City Chiefs outright over the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 6.

The opening line of just three points favoring the Chiefs treated both teams equally, as if Kansas City wasn’t the lone unbeaten team in the National Football League and that the Steelers hadn’t lost games to both the Chicago Bears and Jacksonville Jaguars. The adjustment in the line shows just that, the head-scratching response to the horrible performance by Ben Roethlisberger and company in Week 5.

The Steelers are still 3-2 and in control in the AFC North but they hardly look the part of AFC powerhouse. Meanwhile the Chiefs have picked up that mantle with ease, taking out playoff hopeful teams each and every week, from the Patriots and Texans in the AFC to the Redskins and Eagles in the NFC. However, the Steelers are the kryptonite, so to speak, for the Chiefs and present a challenge not to be overlooked.

The reason the line began at what is basically even (since home teams are always allotted a three-point bonus) is because bettors are likely familiar with Big Ben’s history against the Chiefs. The Steelers have owned the Chiefs, including two wins just last year. During the regular season, Pittsburgh put over 40 points up on the vaunted Chiefs defense, including five touchdown passes for Roethlisberger. In the playoffs, the Chiefs lost to the Steelers despite not giving up a single touchdown in an upset win for the Steelers.

Roethlisberger hasn’t lost to Kansas City since 2009. That is not to say that the Chiefs won’t win. In fact, they’re not only favored to do so but more and more bettors are putting money on it. It will be interesting to see if the Chiefs can break this streak against Big Ben and put another win on the board in Week 6.
