The Kansas City Chiefs are the only undefeated team in the NFL, but they’re only 3 point favorites over the visiting Pittsburgh Steelers.

The last time the Pittsburgh Steelers visited Arrowhead Stadium less than a year ago, they were able to seemingly move the chains at will downfield enough to kick a number of field goals in a road upset over the Kansas City Chiefs. That’s likely fresh in the minds of oddsmakers in Las Vegas as the opening line for the upcoming Chiefs-Steelers game has been set with K.C. only listed as 3-point favorites.

To remember last year’s game and react accordingly, however, is to completely ignore the way that both teams are performing right now. The Chiefs not only will have the home field advantage at Arrowhead, but will do so coming in as the NFL’s only undefeated team. In fact, every other AFC team has at least two losses right now.

Not only are the Chiefs unbeaten, but they’re winning games in a number of ways. Alex Smith is putting up MVP numbers, but he faces serious competition from his own teammate in rookie running back Kareem Hunt, who is leading the NFL in rushing by a serious margin of 143 yards (over fellow rookie Leonard Fournette of the Jacksonville Jaguars). The defense is playoff caliber. The special teams are always excellent. The offense has multiple weapons.

The Steelers themselves are reeling early in 2017. Ben Roethlisberger threw a ridiculous five interceptions last week in a surprising loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars. They also lost three weeks ago to the struggling Chicago Bears. The Steelers are still 3-2 with important divisional wins over the Ravens and Browns, but it’s clear the Steelers aren’t looking like an AFC powerhouse at this point.

The line will continue to move throughout the week leading up to Sunday afternoon’s game. It will be interesting to see if bettors respond to the favorite line for K.C. at this point.
