NFL power rankings: Falcons, Chiefs sit alone atop standings
By Matt Conner
The NFL standings only have two undefeated teams, so it’s no surprise to see both of the Falcons and Chiefs atop FanSided’s power rankings.
In just three short weeks, the NFL is down to a single undefeated team left in each conference. In the AFC, the Kansas City Chiefs are the only unbeaten left, while last year’s Super Bowl losers, the Atlanta Falcons, are the only undefeated team left in the NFC. It’s not surprising, then, to see both teams sitting atop the current NFL Power Rankings after Week 3 over at FanSided.
The Falcons are coming in first, and it’s hard to argue that they shouldn’t belong there after performing so well in consecutive seasons. The Falcons have toppled the Green Bay Falcons and Detroit Lions in consecutive weeks, knocking off two of their biggest competitors for NFC supremacy early on. The Chiefs put away the Los Angeles Chargers and the win doesn’t look great on paper when you see that Philip Rivers and company are 0-3 overall—despite how competitive they’ve looked in each of those games.

Moving forward, the Chiefs will need to beat a Washington Redskins team that took the Oakland Raiders out back on Sunday and gave Derek Carr his first loss on the year. That might prove tough, but Washington will be visiting Arrowhead so that might prove the difference. The Falcons, meanwhile, will face the Buffalo Bills, who would normally not prompt any sort of real fear except they also looked solid on Sunday in a win over the Denver Broncos.
Following the Falcons and Chiefs atop the power rankings were the New England Patriots, Green Bay Packers and Pittsburgh Steelers. Check out the rest here.
