The Kansas City Chiefs will officially be without starting center Mitch Morse when they suit up on Sunday to face the Chargers.
The Los Angeles Chargers are hurting along the offensive line, so maybe misery loves company enough that they will take heart in knowing the Kansas City Chiefs are dealing with injuries as well. Starting center Mitch Morse suffered a foot sprain last week against the Philadelphia Eagles and wasn’t expected to play in Week 3. Now that’s official.
Morse has been an anchor in the middle of the Chiefs offensive line since he first arrived after being selected in the second round of the 2015 NFL Draft. He missed a single game due to a concussion during his rookie campaign, but otherwise Morse has been a model citizen in the middle and has grown to a level that could warrant a potential Pro Bowl nod this year if he’s able to return for enough games.

That said, while it will be a significant loss, the reality is that the Chiefs also enjoy a very capable back-up for Morse in Zach Fulton. Fulton was the team’s sixth round draft pick in 2013 and was actually a starter at guard for years. With 50 games and 34 total starts, Fulton has a nice resume with plenty of experience and some of his best play comes at center. During Week 2, the Chiefs offense was able to keep moving the chains even after Morse went down.
Morse was expected to miss this week and maybe even the next couple but nothing was official until now. He’s likely going to be week-to-week for some time.
