The latest FanSided NFL Power Rankings are out after Week 2 and the Kansas City Chiefs come in just outside the top 3 in the league.

The Kansas City Chiefs keep climbing their way to the top. At this rate, it’s only a matter of time until they’re considered the NFL’s best. For now, they’ll have to settle for No. 4, because that’s where they’ve landed in the latest FanSided NFL Power Rankings.

The Chiefs are now 2-0, one of seven such teams as of press time in the NFL, which automatically gives them one of the top slots. Add in the fact that they were coming in from such a successful season last year of 12-4 and brought back most of the same talent, and that equals an even higher position. The Chiefs, after all, were expected to be among the NFL’s better teams in 2017.

However, so far the Chiefs have been even a bit better than expected. The biggest factor working for them in terms of perception is the quality of their wins. Rather than feasting on an easy schedule, the Chiefs have knocked off the New England Patriots and Philadelphia Eagles in consecutive weeks. Not only were the Pats the defending champions, but both teams should be expected to make noise in the postseason.

"In one of the better games of the afternoon, the Chiefs took the Philadelphia Eagles’ best shots and staved off the much-improved Birds and Andy Reid’s former employer."

At this point, the Chiefs are expected to win in Week 3 as they take on the San Diego Chargers, an 0-2 team who the Chiefs can ill afford to lose to. Despite the winning record, the Chiefs still need to face the AFC West gauntlet and the Chargers cannot be overlooked. They likely won’t earn much national credit if they win, but a loss would be a sucker punch in any power rankings.
