Former Kansas City Chiefs offensive lineman Will Shields recently has his Hall of Fame ring stolen while on vacation.
How exactly does a burglar pawn or create cash on a ring that’s so one-of-a-kind that there’s not a single other piece like it in the world because it’s marked with the name and likeness of its owner? That has to be the issue facing whoever it was who stole Will Shields’ Pro Football Hall of Fame ring while he and his family were in Colorado.
Per the Kansas City Star, Shields says his ring was stolen “earlier this week” and a police report has been filed. Hopefully the invaluable ring will surface.
"“It’s frustrating but my family is fine and safe, and that is what’s most important,” Shields said. “As for the ring, it is what the ring stands for and the work behind it that is important.”"

No details were given about the actual burglary and where the ring was at the time it was taken. It’s hard to imagine being able to move the ring without raising flags, so hopefully the ring will turn up very soon.
Shields was drafted in the third round by the Chiefs back in ’93. He played 14 seasons with Kansas City before retiring in 2007. He was a first-ball Hall of Fame induction into Canton in 2012 and is also a member of the College Football Hall of Fame. During his NFL career, Shields made the Pro Bowl an incredible 12 times and even won the Walter Payton Man of the Year award for his charitable work and community service in 2003.
