The Chiefs signed defensive tackle Roy Miller which makes you wonder about Chris Jones and his health.

The Kansas City Chiefs had the day off from practice on Friday. It may be a very good thing that they weren’t on the field with the rash of injuries across the NFL. The biggest, also to a division rival, is Los Angeles Chargers guard Forrest Lamp who reportedly tore his right ACL. If that proves to be accurate the Chargers will miss another lineman they were counting on to improve the team around Philip Rivers.

While the team may not have been practicing on Wednesday, Chiefs GM Brett Veach was busy bringing in another veteran. Defensive tackle Roy Miller was added to the Chiefs squad. Signing a one-year deal for $1.4 million is a little over the veteran minimum. Only three hundred thousand is guaranteed, which means he isn’t a lock. Whether or not Miller can make the team at this point is up in the air, but he does bring something that the Chiefs need. His best attribute as a player is his run stopping. If he can bring that to the Chiefs defensive line and help in a rotation with the rest of the players the Chiefs have it will be a very solid addition.

Practice resumes tomorrow at Saint Joseph. They will be practicing every day through next Wednesday. K.C. will have a day off before they travel back to Arrowhead to take on the San Francisco 49ers on Friday night. For more than half the roster, the next couple of weeks will determine their futures in the NFL. They have an opportunity to make a statement in practices. The games will be out there for all teams to see. Preseason is a fun time for fans to see the players that are still developing; but for the players it is the ultimate test of their abilities.
