Jamaal Charles sounds like he’s ready to prove all of his doubters wrong, including one specific franchise, as he anticipates the 2017 season.
Denver Broncos running back Jamaal Charles (that sounds wrong) says his knee is feeling healthy and that he’s “doing everything” on it” after offseason surgery and rehabilitation. Denver’s ABC station is reporting that Charles is cutting on the knee in practice and that the newly acquired back feels ready to prove his doubters wrong heading into training camp.
Troy Renck recently spoke to Charles, who said he feels “back to the normal me” and is ready to show that he still holds the same athleticism and vision that made him a potential Hall of Famer with the Kansas City Chiefs. Specifically he’s looking forward to showing them what he can do after the team released him early this offseason.
"“When people say you can’t do something, you want to prove them wrong. That’s always been on my mind since I signed with the Broncos,” Charles said. “The last time I had to prove people wrong was when I came back from ACL (surgery) and when I came back from hurting myself here in Denver (on Sept. 14, 2014). We played New England (next) and I had an incredible game (92 yards rushing, 15 receiving, three touchdowns). I like proving people wrong. It keeps the fire going, it keeps the spark going. I am excited about just getting back to where I was before.”"

Charles went for several weeks without a new home after being released by the Chiefs and only took a single visit to the Seattle Seahawks, who chose to sign Eddie Lacy instead (and actually signed him before Charles even took his actual visit). Immediately after the draft, Charles visited with the Broncos and stayed there to sign a deal, expressing how much he’d loved the team as a kid, especially now general manager John Elway.
Charles is the Chiefs all-time leading rusher with 7.260 rushing yards and 91 rushing touchdowns. He has another 20 touchdowns via receptions.
