Is LDT deserving of this contract?

Ever since becoming a Chief in the 6th round of the 2013 draft, Duvernay-Tardif has been on a steady rise in his skills and production. He has a natural talent base, as evidenced by winning an award in college at McGill for the best offensive lineman in all of Canada.

Duvernay-Tardif is still not elite by any stretch of the imagination, but he’s continuing to get better with each season of experience. For instance, he was graded as the best pass blocker in red and gold last season by Pro Football Focus, coming in at No. 26 overall. Dorsey clearly believes that LDT’s ceiling can go even higher, judging by this deal, and he’s locked in the players all around him to help him achieve his potential.

If LDT continues this upward trend, LDT’s contract will only look better with each passing season and if, for some reason, he fails to improve on his current trajectory, then the Chiefs wouldn’t have to pay much, if at all, to get out of the deal in each of the last three seasons.

Not only is he almost a doctor, but Duvernay-Tardif has earned his way from emergency backup to rotational guy to full time starter. My trust is planted in LDT. Yours should be too. Let’s rally behind this line, this team and show them what they mean to us.

If you ask me, LDT has earned this contract and will continue to prove his worth to us. Would you say you agree with me Chiefs Kingdom? Let me know down below and on Twitter!
