Colts rumors: Dontari Poe leaves Indy without contract, off to Jaguars
By Matt Conner
The Indianapolis Colts let Dontari Poe leave without a contract offer, or at least one that would keep him from visiting other NFL teams.
The Dontari Poe caravan is en route once again. On Sunday, the free agent defensive end will meet with the Jacksonville Jaguars, who are looking to build out their defensive front after letting Sen’Derrick Marks leave and releasing Roy Miller.

The Colts were the odds-on favorites to sign Poe given his connection with new general manager Chris Ballard, who came over from the Kansas City Chiefs. Poe is a 26-year-old defensive lineman who has already made two Pro Bowls. He’s also carrying a lot of baggage given his 4,200-plus snaps logged in the last five seasons and a history of back pain.
Despite any concerns, Poe is still an above average lineman in his prime and should garner some sort of a favorable deal, but rumors have circulated whether or not he might have to take a 1-year deal. Yet if he’s touring with the Colts, the Jaguars and other teams like the Atlanta Falcons get involved, where Scott Pioli works in the front office, perhaps the suitors will start to fight for his services.
Poe had 27 tackles last year for the Chiefs.
