Jamaal Charles was released by the Kansas City Chiefs in recent weeks, and as free agency opens, rumors have the Seahawks showing interest.
When the Kansas City Chiefs released Jamaal Charles, it was largely a move to free up cap space. Charles was coming off of another serious injury and had struggled to get healthy and on the field for the Chiefs in 2016. With another procedure on his surgically repaired knee, the risks and costs associated with Charles were too great for the cash-strapped Chiefs at this point.
For a team like the Seattle Seahawks, however, a move to sign the veteran running back makes all kinds of sense. Now it appears that Seattle and Charles have “mutual interest” which could mean a contract offer is coming soon.
Any deal will be contingent upon a physical, so both sides might be forced to wait for some time before making anything official.
Charles played in only three games last year, carrying the ball 12 times for only 40 rushing yards and a single touchdown in 2016.
