Eric Berry was named MVP of the Kansas City Chiefs and Tyreek Hill won Rookie of the Year in a ceremony held to honor the team’s best performers on Sunday.
The 47th annual 101 Awards were held on Sunday night, and the Kansas City Chiefs handed out their yearly awards for MVP and Rookie of the Year to star safety Eric Berry and wide receiver Tyreek Hill, respectively.
The Chiefs players have spoken and made it clear they want Eric Berry to return after making him the Derrick Thomas Award winner for the second offseason in a row. As the heart and soul of the team’s secondary, Berry earned another Pro Bowl nod with 77 tackles, 9 passes defended, 4 interceptions, including 2 that he returned for touchdowns.

Berry is currently scheduled to become a free agent unless the Chiefs front office either uses the franchise tag on him for the second straight year or signs him to a long-term extension. Berry said on Sunday that he wasn’t “getting his hopes up.”
The Mack Lee Hill Award goes to the Chiefs best rookie every season, and Tyreek Hill was this year’s recipient. A surprise offensive catalyst taken in the fifth round last season, Hill had 860 yards from scrimmage and scored 9 touchdowns. Hill also led the NFL in punt returns for touchdown (2), total return yards (592), longest return (95 yards) and average return (15.2). Andy Reid, the team’s head coach, has already said he’s anxious to get Hill more reps next season in the team’s offense.
