2016 Kansas City Chiefs: Over/Under
Alex Smith Passing Yards
Over/Under Line: 3,500 yards
No Chiefs player is more debated than quarterback Alex Smith. I’ve set the line for 2016 at 3,500 yards. Smith set a personal best in passing yards in 2015 with 3,486 yards. His three year average in Kansas City under Andy Reid is 3,354.7 yards. So the question here is basically if you think Smith will continue to improve in his fourth season in KC and set another personal best or if he’ll regress closer to his average?
My Prediction: Under
Do I think Smith could go over 3,500 yards in 2016? Yes, but I’m still taking the under here for two main reasons. First, Smith has played at least 15 games in his first three seasons in KC. That’s great for a quarterback that runs the ball a lot and takes his fair share of sacks. I hope he’s healthy again in 2016 but you have to think there’s a risk there.
Second, the Chiefs now have a fantastic three headed rushing attack with Jamaal Charles, Charcandrick West, and Spencer Ware. If the Chiefs commit to running the football it could limit Smith from setting a new personal best in passing yards.
What do you think, over or under 3,500 passing yards for Alex Smith?
