Round One- #28 overall

Eli Apple, 6-1, 191, Ohio State

Mackensie Alexander, 5-10, 190, Clemson

William Jackson III, 6-0, 189, Houston

Having watched a lot of tape on each of these corner prospects, I’m torn between Eli Apple and Mackensie Alexander. Alexander is better suited for the pro game at the moment but Apple has more potential moving forward. However, Alexander

is quicker, mirrors better, and is willing to stick his head into the chest of a running back far more often that Eli Apple. For more combine information on Eli Apple go here. For more combine information on Mackensie Alexander go here.

I’m not much a of a fan of William Jackson III when compared to Alexander or Apple. He has skills as a zone read corner but doesn’t seem to mirror well and that’s a big part of the Chiefs defense especially when they need to have their corners shut down wide receivers because they have them going one-on-one. My First Round Pick:

Comparatively speaking, I’d be a bit surprised if the Chiefs select a corner in the first round when you consider all the other talent that should still be on the board, especially if there are still a number of defensive tackles there for the taking. The surplus of high quality DTs this year makes it feel less likely that Dorsey will go for a corner in the first. Also, if a top offensive tackle is available I can see Dorsey taking one of them before he takes a top corner. However, if one of these three mentioned here is there for the taking, I also will not be surprised if he pulls the trigger. So, my pick? Any of the above beginning with Mackensie Alexander.
