Round Two- #59 overall

Artie Burns, 6-0, 193, Miami

Kendall Fuller, 5-11, 187, Virginia Tech

Will Redmond, 5-11, 182, Mississippi State

At the moment, I see Artie Burns and Eli Apple as similar talent wise. However, I actually think Burns is more athletic and plays with more outward desire… a demonstrative motivation you can see. Call it intensity or what you will but I like Burns more than Apple because of it and since their physical gifts are similar, I’ll take a guy like Burns every time.

Kendall Fuller is an intriguing prospect because he is so competitive and confident and I’m guessing that comes from being

part of a family of brothers who play in the NFL already: CB Kyle and WR Corey who play for the Bears and Lions respectively. Another brother , Vincent, also played his college ball at Virginia Tech and played Safety for the Titans. Kyle was drafted by the Bears in the first round two years ago but many believe Kendall is the best of all the brothers. Kendall Fuller’s ability to mirror a wide receiver is perhaps the best of these corners mentioned here making him my second choice behind Mackensie Alexander. I can see the Chiefs being successful this season using Fuller on the opposite side of Marcus Peters while platooning with another corner on that side.

Will Redmond doesn’t have the typical skills of a man corner. He plays more like a safety and I can see him making a good slot corner more than someone who can be depended upon on the outside. I love his willingness to go get the ball carrier on running plays but I would be worried that he can’t cover most of the wide receivers in the league on his own. He’s got the quicks and the speed with a 4.35 40 time but tore his ACL in October and hasn’t performed since.

My Second Round Pick:

If John Dorsey takes a corner from this group I’m hoping it’s Kendall Fuller. I think his background and family give him a huge leg up on dealing with the college-to-NFL transition both on the field and off. Like Apple, Burns has potential but I think Fuller steps right in and takes over the other side of the field from Marcus Peters on day one.
