4. Josh Mauga – LB

Mauga was signed off the scrap heap from the New York Jets two years ago. Most KC fans were surprised that Dorsey brought Mauga back (and gave him a respectable contract) after a questionable 2014, but he has been better this season. He lead the team in tackles on Sunday with nine.

5. Dezman Moses – LB

Dezman Moses hasn’t logged a lot of snaps this season, but if Justin Houston has to miss time Moses may see his playing time increased. He’s looked good in the preseason both against the run and in pass rush situations and is another contributor on special teams.

6. Brian Parker – TE

A rookie from Albany, Parker was undrafted and originally signed by the Chargers. After being cut by San Diego, Dorsey scooped him up and he has been a pleasant surprise as a solid blocking tight end. With James O’Shaughnessy out for the year and Demetrius Harris struggling, Parker could be a key contributor down the stretch.

7. Ron Parker – DB

While Parker now qualifies as a big-dollar free-agent signing, he originally came to KC via the same cutdown day signing spree that landed Howard. Parker played so well last season that KC opened up the pocket book to keep Parker in house with a five-year, $30 million deal.
