8. Jah Reid – OL

Jah Reid was seen as a depth signing when the Chiefs added him right before the season started in September. However, Reid was thrown into the fire right away due to injuries and ultimately has supplanted Donald Stephenson in the starting lineup. Reid may not be a great NFL starter but there is no doubting that the Chiefs are far better off with all of their OL injuries thanks to Dorsey bringing Reid on board.

9. Cairo Santos – K

Cairo Santos was originally thought to just be a “camp leg” who might push incumbent Ryan Succop a little in training camp. However, Dorsey surprised many when he cut Succop and made Santos KC’s kicker. Since then he has made 51 of 62 field goal attempts for a respectable 82 percent.

10. Daniel Sorensen – DB

Daniel Sorensen was another undrafted rookie free agent. While he may not have seen a lot of snaps on defense he has quickly become one of KC’s top special teams players. Sorensen’s contributions may not fill up a stat sheet but I would imagine that Dave Toub would argue he’s as important as any player on this list.

11. Spencer Ware – RB
12. Charcandrick West – RB

I’m going to lump these guys together. When Jamaal Charles went down it was easy to assume that KC’s running attack was going to take a major hit. That hasn’t been the case and not because of former third-round pick Knile Davis, but because of these two players who’s combined salary this season is only half of what Josh Mauga will make in 2015.

To say that KC has gotten their money’s worth out of these two would be an understatement. During their five-game winning streak these two have combined to rush for 502 yards at 4.7 yards per carry, another 190 yards receiving, and scored seven total touchdowns. For comparison, in his five games played this season Jamaal Charles totaled 364 yards rushing, 177 yards receiving, and had five total touchdowns.
