De’Anthony Thomas

Like many other Chiefs’ fans, I love De’Anthony Thomas. Every time he touches the ball something exciting happens. Whether it’s out of the backfield, collecting the ball on jet sweeps and screen passes or on kick and punt returns, Thomas is electric.

“You’ve got to respect his speed,  you don’t want that kind of speed running by you. Those little, short routes are going to be open all day.” – Sean Smith on De’Anthony Thomas

Corner Sean Smith states that Thomas’ speed will provide him with space on underneath routes and curl routes. Alongside Albert Wilson (I’ll get to him later), the little wide receivers will attract enough targets to produce good yardage in the Chiefs’ passing game.

On top of Thomas’ potential in the Chiefs’ West Coast offense is his kick and punt return talent. Thomas was ranked by PFF as the 2nd best punt returner in the league, with an average of 12.3 yards and one wonderful touchdown against Oakland at Arrowhead. Thomas will be one of the better returners in the league once again in 2015, and with his increased role on offense, he is set to have an excellent sophomore year.
