The first-overall pick of the 2013 draft, Eric Fisher, has been disappointing since moving to Kansas City. Playing his rookie season at right tackle, Fisher struggled greatly. Allowing seven sacks and 35 quarterback hurries, Fisher often looked out of his depth.

“I’ve really never boxed before, but I know my punch is one of the things I really needed to develop this offseason. And I knew going into the offseason that it was something I wanted to do and get into” – Eric Fisher

In his sophomore year Fisher was moved back to his original position at left tackle, but this did not stem the poor play unfortunately. He allowed another seven sacks but did improve, especially in the screen game, something Andy Reid loves to experiment with. Fisher was hampered by a shoulder injury before the season and in flashes, looked to show his 1st overall pick talent.

In 2015, Fisher looks to have locked down the left tackle spot. It will also be his first season without a busy off season. In his rookie year Fisher was entering a team with a new coach, a new quarterback and a complicated Andy Reid offense system to learn. This was all on top of switching position. Last season Fisher had to undergo shoulder surgery, limiting his time in the gym.

Fisher’s recognition of his much needed improvement, especially in his punch and his upper body strength, is something to be admired, and his willingness to work on these weaknesses set him up to have a much improved, and crucial third year.
