Strong-side inside linebacker: Josh Mauga vs. D.J. Alexander

Josh Mauga has lined up as the weak-side inside linebacker throughout most of his career. However, Derrick Johnson’s back in the fold, which means that Mauga has to occupy the strong side if he wants to see any action.

Having said that, D.J. Alexander’s skill set is tailor-made for the position. He’s a one-man army of Angry Birds who wakes up craving contact.

Mauga is far from a seamless fit, but his experience is bound to grant him the starting job. Don’t be surprised if Alexander’s reps increase throughout the latter half of the year, though.
