Dwayne Bowe: WR Tweets Out Farewell To Kansas City Chiefs And Fans
By Brett Gering
Wide receiver Dwayne Bowe has confirmed his release by the Kansas City Chiefs.
The former Pro Bowler tweeted out his farewell to the organization and fans.
Bowe 532 receptions are 116 more than any other receiver in franchise history. He ranks No. 2 in receiving yards (7,155) and yards per game (60.6) and No. 4 in touchdowns (44).
Since being plucked with the 23rd pick of the 2007 draft, Bowe has notched 112 starts in 118 games. He has also tallied three 1,000-yard seasons—he totaled 995 yards as a rookie—and led the NFL with 15 touchdowns in 2010.
The wideout was scheduled for a $14 million cap hit in 2015. By releasing him, the Chiefs will gain $5 million in cap room.
With the departure of Bowe and, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the addition of former Pro Bowler Ben Grubbs, Over the Cap, who doesn’t have Dezman Moses’ contract factored into the equation, estimates that Kansas City has $796,443 in cap space.
