Kansas City Chiefs’ 2015 Free Agency Outlook: Part 1

Right Tackle

1. Bryan Bulaga (Packers)

Bulaga’s another player John Dorsey is likely to covet if he hits unrestricted free agency. He was Dorsey’s top pick of the 2010 NFL Draft (at 23rd overall). Acquiring Bulaga could prove tricky though. He’ll be one of the top-rated free agents at his position if he isn’t re-signed in Green Bay. Doug Free’s the only other right tackle in the neighborhood. The Chiefs aren’t in a great position to win a bidding war for his services with contract situations looming for both Justin Houston and Rodney Hudson. In 2014, Pro Football Focus ranked Bulaga as one of the fourteen best tackles in pro football.

2. Jermey Parnell (Cowboys)

The Cowboys are facing a “pick ’em” situation with Jermey Parnell and Doug Free. Both of them logged starts at the right tackle spot in 2014. When Free went down with an injury, Parnell stepped in and actually received a slightly higher grade from PFF than Free. Dallas can only keep one of them. Parnell’s the younger player of the two, but Free’s more battle-tested as an NFL starter. Parnell will be the affordable alternative to a player like Bulaga, who could command heavy coin on the open market.

We’ll pick this back up next Tuesday but for now, what do you think about my FA list of offensive options for the Chiefs? Are you interested in any of them? Are there other players more likely to fit the offensive system? Are there unnamed players who’ll fall more squarely into the Chiefs salary cap wheelhouse? Use the comment section below to weigh in. As always, we appreciate your readership and support.

Until next time, Addicts!
